Our Story

Bex & Anya here!

A big hello and welcome to Brixton Life Drawing! Our Life Drawing venture dream became a reality after a long tube journey back from work in December 2019. Fast forward a week and we already had a venue and our first class booked in!

The two of us met at work- we are both homeware textile designers and worked together for 4 years before we sadly parted ways! We bonded over a mutual love of cups of tea, aperol spritz and art.

We spent our initial few weeks flyering outside Brixton tube station and within a couple of weeks, our classes were selling out! We are both lucky enough to have a job that allows us to be creative all day, every day- our aim was to allow others to discover a creative outlet and make art more accessible to people in a fun and friendly environment.

Anya

Hi everyone, Anya here!

I’ve always worked in the design sector- I went to Loughborough University where I did my Art Foundation before completing a degree in Printed Textiles. 🎨 After graduating I spent time working and interning for lots of big brands including Monsoon & Accessorize, Marks & Spencer’s and White Stuff. I then ended up going into the Homeware Textile Design Sector! ✍🏻

My favourite part of the job I do is painting! I love to paint- anything from flowers to bohemian designs (and literally everything in between)! πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨ I never get bored of coming up with new designs and planning them out in my mind. I love seeing a design through from the initial concept through to seeing it in shops across the world! .

Brixton Life Drawing initially started as a small side venture for us that we would rush back from work for- but the one good thing to come out of lockdown is that we have been able to see this amazing community we built grow and develop (and even make it into the national press)! βœπŸ»πŸ’“πŸŽ¨

Bex

Hi, Bex here!

Pre lockdown life, I worked as a homeware textile designer! My job incorporates seeing collections from idea concepts to photography! .

One of my favourite things about working in the creative industry is being able to go to exhibitions and travel! It all counts as research and finding inspiration! .
