“Cowley attends sessions run by Brixton Life Drawing, set up in December 2019 by textile designers Anya Gomulski and Bex Dagless. Each session, held in a London venue, attracted around 50 people before the pandemic took hold. When Gomulski and Dagless were furloughed in the first lockdown, they moved their classes on to Zoom.”

“If you’re feeling the urge to draw but have next to no motivation, online life drawing clases are a great way to get started and flex your sketching muscles. Join Brixton Life Drawing and Cheapskate London for this introductory session on Zoom. The model for the class, Olivia, works as a pole dancer, and will be integrating the pole into many of her poses, so be ready for a bit of a challenge. “

“Virtual events get a bad reputation,” says the newsletter’s founder, Kate Samuelson. “But they’re amazing for people who are isolating, shielding or living alone. As well as offering entertainment, they help people to find more structure in their lives.” Brixton Life Drawing is offering classes every Tuesday and Thursday in exchange for donations.

“During lockdown it can be harder to make time to be creative, so an hour and a half life drawing seems like a perfect way to flex those muscles and start the day.

The class starts with an introduction from co-founders Anya and Bex. The classes are all pay what you can, to keep them accessible to everyone who would like to give life drawing a go and 50% of profits are given to local charities, today the charity is Brixton Soup Kitchen.”

“Set up by besties Anya and Bex, Brixton Life Drawing offers a fun and friendly environment to anyone looking to express their artistic talents. Much to the relief of their loyal customers, BLD took their classes online when the pandemic forced us all indoors in early 2020.

Nowadays, you have the option to enjoy a class with fellow life drawers at the studio or get sketching from the comfort of your own home with their online classes. From first-timers to Van Goghs in the making, all abilities are welcome. Just come with an open mind, passion for art and interest to learn and see where the evening takes you.”
